McConnell-Chao Archives

The Senator Mitch McConnell and Secretary Elaine L. Chao Archives explore the inner workings of U.S. government through the lives of these two prominent national leaders, giving visitors a whole new perspective on public service and the evolution of American politics.

Central to the exhibit is a strong focus on American civics for student visitors. Specially themed Civics Lessons and a transformative Citizenship Test media interactive give educators a unique resource for teaching some of the most fundamental aspects of the U.S. Constitution.

Two films—Inspired to Lead and Promise of America—explore the colorful history and tradition of the U.S. Senate and the enduring role of the immigrant experience in America.

“They really listened. They were responsive. They were willing to keep at it until they got it.”
