The Hall of Governors

When the Kentucky Historical Society enlisted Solid Light to re-imagine this exhibit, their goals were clear: preserve the official governor portraits that hang in the Thomas D. Clark Center for Kentucky History and provide an engaging interpretive experience.

The transformed Hall of Governors permanent exhibit enhances the visual presence of the portraits and provides a timeline that includes governors’ biographies, roles of office, and important issues that have affected Kentucky’s leaders throughout the Commonwealth’s history.

Other exhibit features include oral history audio stations that offer insights from former governors, a “Could You Be Governor?” touchscreen interactive that teaches visitors the requirements for office, and rare artifacts that give visitors a glimpse at Kentucky’s history. Departing visitors are encouraged to jot down and post their own personal perspectives on contemporary issues.
